Description
1 x sheet of 410 Grade Stainless Steel 1 x 300 x 300 mm (0.040 x 12 x 12″).
1 mm thick 410 stainless steel is used for liners in folding knives – slip joints, lock backs, and modern folders.
It is commonly paired with 416 Stainless Steel bolsters spot welded in place or pinned on with 2.4 mm (3/32″) 416 Pin Stock, pin holes opened with a Tapered Reamer for best results.
410 Stainless Steel is also useful for spacers in hidden tang knives or liners in frame tang construction, especially attractive when coined with a Checkering File.
It is a lower carbon martensitic stainless steel not suitable for knife blades by itself, but can be used as cladding in san-mai or forge welded into layers with a contrasting material like Mild Steel or Pure Nickel Sheet in between.
