Description
Cooktown Ironwood (Erythrophleum chlorostachys) Scales. Includes 2 x scales each measuring approximately 11 x 46 x 143 mm.
An incredibly hard, stable, rot-proof, extremely fine-grained timber that polishes easily. Sand to 600 grit, burnish with 0000 steel wool and buff. This wood is so impermeable that there is almost no point in putting a finish on it. It is possibly the most dense wood in the world, our stock averages 1308 kg per cubic metre – more dense than Lignum vitae, Gidgee or African blackwood.
This is a natural material that comes with minor defects (added character) at no extra charge.
